2024 BIPOC Farm Tour Circuit

Join the Agraria Center for Regenerative Practice for a full day of BIPOC farm tours. This is a unique opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the regenerative farming community, as well as the practices they use to regenerate the soil.

Tour Highlights:

  • Farm Visits: Explore diverse regenerative farming practices and learn from new and experienced BIPOC farmers.

  • Lunch: Enjoy a farm-to-table lunch featuring fresh ingredients sourced directly from from of the farms we will visit, creating a delicious and sustainable dining experience.

  • Networking: Engage with fellow farmers, community members, and advocates for regenerative agriculture.

  • 9:15 a.m. | Registration at Farm #1

    9:30 – 10:00 a.m. | Farm #1: Eden’s Harvest, Anita Armstead
    Location: (across from) 307 Saint Louis Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45405
    Description: 3.5-acre regenerative urban farm and healing garden. Eden’s Harvest is dedicated to promoting community health and wellness and food sovereignty by rebuilding and restoring relationships between people, God, the land and locally grown food.

    10:15 - 10:45 a.m. | Farm #2: Oasis Agricultural Learning Center, Gregory Mohammad
    Location: 40 South Decker Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45414
    Description: 3-acre urban co-operative farm and learning center, which will also serve as the future site for an agriculture-based day-care and youth center. Oasis provides a multifaceted approach to education and community engagement through sustainable farming practices.

    11:00 - 11:30 a.m. | Farm #3: Saint Vincent Gateway Farm, Manager – Gregory Mohammad
    Location: 40 South Decker Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45417
    Description: 2-acre urban farm focused on cultivating healthy and nutritious produce for both the public and the residents of the shelter. Offers volunteers the chance to learn and contribute, with opportunities to engage in both inground and high tunnel growing techniques.

    11:45 a.m . – 1:15 p.m. | Farm #4: Edgemont Solar Garden, Board President – Rhonda Miller (Lunch will be served at this location.)
    Location: 913 Miami Chapel Road Dayton, Ohio 45417
    Description: Nestled in the heart of West Dayton, this 3-acre gem was established in 1978. The Solar Garden fosters cooperative greenhouse and high tunnel cultivation, urban incubation farming, and community education, all aimed at addressing food security in the Greater Edgemont area.

    1:30 – 2:15 p.m. | Farm #5: Restoration Family Co-op, Board President – Tia Stuart
    Location: 7779 West Third Street Dayton, Ohio 45417
    Description: Traditional 6-acre, rural family farm co-op on the outskirts of West Dayton. They specialize in silvopastured poultry and vegetable production while demonstrating a collaborative and eco-friendly approach to farming.

    2:30 – 3:30 p.m. | Farm #6: The Narrow Way Farm, David and Tia Stuart
    Location: 3622 Johnsville Brookville Road Brookville, Ohio 45309
    Description: 5-acre permaculture style rural farm and nursery. Cultivates fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, along with poultry. The Narrow Way Farm provides a God-centered, holistic and environmentally responsible approach to farming and nursery operations.

    4:00 – 5:30 p.m. | Farm #7: Mo’s Veggies, Habib “Mo” Mohamed
    Location: 521 Park Avenue Eaton, Ohio 45320
    Description: This 7-acre rural farm is dedicated to producing nutritious fruit and vegetables and features an inviting roadside farm market. Mo brings valuable farming experience from his native Trinidad.
